Honoring our Warriors Past and Present
The Intertribal Canoe Journey Paddle to Muckleshoot has returned after a three-year break caused by the COVID-19 Pandemic. Ta'Kaiya Blaney, Native Children's Survival Youth Ambassador, is among the participants of the 2023 event, which will bring together approximately 11,000 individuals to the Muckleshoot Reservation.
Over 120 canoe families traveled from their home nations across the Pacific Northwest, paddling for days or even weeks to reach Alki Beach for the landing ceremony held on July 30th. During the multi-day protocol ceremony from July 31 to August 6, participants will have the opportunity to share and showcase their songs, dances, messages, and announcements.
