On Dennis Hopper's birthday, Wednesday, May 17, at 7pm, Rebel Film Festival and Taos Center for the Arts will partner to present a free screening of David Lynch's 1986 “Blue Velvet”, which stars Hopper as villain Frank Booth alongside Laura Dern, Isabella Rossellini, Kyle MacLachlan, and Dean Stockwell, in this subversive, surreal neo-noir cult classic.
Beginning at 6pm, a commemorative cake will be served in The Encore Gallery preceding the film, and Blue Deer BBQ & Bakery will be vending their delicious food. In the spirit of the Mabel Dodge Luhan parlors, folks are invited to come early to gather and share stories about Dennis, carrying on his tradition of community through the arts in Taos.
On Saturday, May 27, Taos Pueblo and Eagle Thunder Presents welcome you to the Easy Rider Rally & Ride and Taos Mountain Village Market & Fair. Festivities begin at 10:30 am at Hail Creek Travel Center. At 12 pm, it's kickstands-up for the Easy Rider Ride into Taos Pueblo for a special visit in honor of Dennis. At 1pm, the ride continues along the Enchanted Circle with stops at the Red River Memorial Rally, Rio Grande Gorge Bridge, and back to Taos Mountain Casino for music, Blue Deer BBQ, and a play-to-win & raffle for Indian Motorcycles.
Admission is FREE. All registered riders will receive a FREE 10th Anniversary Commemorative Patch!
