WINTER SOLSTICE

From time immemorial, sacred pathways reveal sun’s journey. Winter solstice in the north brings the shortest days and longest nights, while for our relatives in the south, the solstice brings the longest days and shortest nights.

This season’s solstice falls on December 21, 2024, at 9.21 UTC (Coordinated Universal Time). However, sun’s natural pattern differs from clock time. The earliest sunset in the north and earliest sunrise in the south occur before the solstice.

Along with festive doings and celebrations, winter solstice is also quiet time observed with reflection, gratitude, storytelling, and ceremony—the mystical wonder of nature in harmony with all our relations.
