WORLD OCEAN DAY 2024

World Ocean Day is celebrated annually on 8 June. The critical condition of the Ocean, a crisis that demands our immediate attention, is well known. Yet, nature's warning is widely ignored. Sea life, especially our sister and brother mammals, have sounded the alarm, urging us to act now and prevent further devastation!

Forty percent of the global population and 12 of the world's 15 largest cities in coastal regions are in peril from human-induced pollution, biodiversity loss, climate change, and the extinction of marine life. Only 15 percent of coastlines remain in a natural state, a stark reminder of the potential consequences of our inaction. It's our responsibility to heed nature's warnings before the ocean crisis reaches catastrophe and washes up on coastal regions around the world.

The Ocean absorbs over 90% of excess heat and 30% of human-induced CO2 emissions. Because the ocean economy contributes over $1.5 trillion annually, real solutions are often drowned by big business in pursuit of profit. This not only threatens blue ecosystems but also diverse Indigenous cultures that subsist and live in harmony with the Ocean. All our relations are at stake. We must act now!

Join the Global movement to safeguard the Ocean.
